We are Astrid, Melanie and Yannick Klostermann, the faces behind e-mem. Our startup from Delmenhorst is far more than just a company to us; it is a true family project into which each of us has poured our strengths, ideas and a great deal of heart. Together we have created a way to look back on one's own life and secure these precious memories for posterity.
The story behind e-mem
The idea for our platform came directly from our own family history. Many years ago, our father interviewed our grandpa and captured his life story on cassette. A wonderful idea – but sadly, that tape was lost over the years, probably during a move.
By now, both our grandfather and our father have passed away. We often think to ourselves today:
"It is such an endless shame that we can no longer hear their voices."
A loss becomes a vision
Out of this painful experience grew our wish to create something lasting. We wanted to offer a safe place and a concrete occasion to tell one's own life story, so that it is not lost for relatives and friends. That is how e-mem was born.
Our journey so far
The path from the first idea to the finished company was an intense process. Over the past year, alongside our regular jobs, we used every free minute to build e-mem. We played through countless options, experimented, and refined and perfected the technical details.
After many intensive test runs among our family and friends, the time had finally come: since the beginning of June 2026, our platform and offers have been online.
